Wells Fargo breezes by competition in mortgage market

Wells Fargo issued 28.8% of all home loans in 2012, and its total $524 billion in production is the highest on record for a single lender, according to Inside Mortgage Finance. The bank's output is greater than that of the next five highest mortgage lenders combined. Wells Fargo and other banks could see mortgage activity decline, however, as homeowner refinancing begins to subside.
