FCC takes five bids for in-flight broadband auction

The FCC accepted bids from AC BidCo, AMTS Consortium, Intelligent Transportation & Monitoring Wireless, Unison Spectrum and WorldCell for a May 10 auction of airwaves to be used for in-flight broadband services. Verizon Airfone and JetBlue Airways' LiveTV were among seven companies with incomplete applications, while the Boeing Co., owner of the satellite-based Connexion business, said it will not enter the fray.
