Group is selected to handle conversion of 45 Detroit schools to charters

The National Association of Charter School Authorizers -- which helped rebuild New Orleans' education system after Hurricane Katrina -- will take on Detroit Public Schools' ambitious plan to convert as many as 45 schools to charters by this fall. The group will evaluate applications from charter groups that want to take over district schools as part of the Renaissance 2012 plan.
