Equine hendra virus vaccine could be available by 2014

Hendra virus causes respiratory problems, neurological symptoms and ultimately death in horses and is a zoonotic disease transmissible to people through contact with body fluids from an infected horse. Veterinarian Deborah Middleton and her team have been working on an equine vaccine for hendra virus that may be available by 2014.
