Intel continues to add silicon foundry customers

Netronome, a designer of flow processors for networking equipment, is the latest semiconductor company without a fabrication facility to become a silicon foundry customer for Intel, Mark LaPedus writes. It previously relied on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing to fabricate its chips. Five years ago, Netronome licensed Intel's IXP28XX network processor line, forming the basis for its 22nm chips, and it will have access to Intel's design tools under the new foundry arrangement.
