OPPD: More work is needed before Neb. nuclear plant can restart

Broad inspections and repairs could push back the projected restart of the Omaha Public Power District's Fort Calhoun nuclear plant, which has been offline since last year because of refueling and flooding, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said. OPPD acknowledges that more effort is needed before the Nebraska facility can resume operations, said Dave Bannister, the company's chief nuclear officer. "We clearly understand our need to improve our performance," he said.
