Alaska approves $225M spending bill for pipeline prep

Legislation that would allocate $225 million for "prep work and planning" for a pipeline project was approved by the Alaska House of Representatives. The state already plans to spend as much as $500 million to "spur construction" of another pipeline. Altogether, Alaska could spend almost $1 billion for the two proposed pipelines -- with no certainty that they would ever be built.
