Architects crowdfund bridge to connect Dutch city's downtowns

A crowdfunded bridge in Rotterdam, Netherlands, has been built to connect the center and northern parts of downtown, which have been separated for decades by rail lines and highways. When city officials said the connection would take 30 years to finance, a group of young architects started a public campaign to finance the bridge, which spans 18 meters. An additional 100 meters is planned.
