Beads mechanically clean up dirty water

Nano-engineered beads described as something between the silica in a window and bathtub caulk can be used to mechanically absorb hydrocarbons from polluted water and then be re-used after the pollutants are recovered. The Osorb product, developed by Paul Edmiston, chair of the chemistry department at the College of Wooster in Ohio, also can extract pharmacueticals and pesticides from groundwater and processed water.
