CFPB levies $15M fine against mortgage insurance companies

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is hitting four U.S. mortgage insurance firms with a total of $15.4 million in penalties for paying what it claims were illegal kickbacks to win lender business. The insurers cited are Genworth Financial, American International Group's United Guaranty unit, Radian Group and MGIC Investment. The companies reached a consent order with the CFPB but did not admit wrongdoing.
