Ford Gum CEO lobbies for reform in U.S. sugar program

Ford Gum & Machine Co. president George Stege is lobbying Congress to reform the U.S. sugar program, which he says artificially inflates the price of sugar. "We're in a situation where we have to compete with other gumball manufacturers overseas who buy sugar on the world market, often at a lower price, produce a finished product and then sell that product here in the United States. We're urging Congress to reform the sugar program so we can compete on a level playing field and create jobs here," Stege said.
