GAO: Doctors often turn away Tricare beneficiaries

Many private doctors decline to treat patients with Tricare health coverage, according to a study from the Government Accountability Office. Some doctors say Tricare often delays reimbursements or offers them less than what they earn with other patients. The problem is particularly severe for mental health care, as less than half of civilian mental health providers are willing to treat Tricare patients, the study found.
