Google offers Compute Engine bonus, adds app-data folders

Google is wooing developers to use its Compute Engine platform by shifting from a limited invitation-only model by offering it to those enrolling in the $400-a-month Gold Support package. Google also dropped the price for use to 13.2 cents per hour, Frederic Lardinois writes. In addition, Google is offering application-data folders that are hidden from users, preventing them from moving or erasing data and diminishing the experience of apps using Google Drive for storage, Drew Olanoff writes.
