How Esri is making location-based apps work for business

The biggest challenge to the use of location-based technology in smartphones is battery use, but companies such as Esri are working to overcome that. Low-power, cloud-based location tech's beneficiaries include customers and field workers through real-time tracking and information. "For example, if used with Salesforce Chatter, the tool could alert a sales manager when one of their team members lands at the San Diego airport, enters Lower Manhattan or arrives inside The Loop in Chicago," Sean McMahon writes.
