HP chairman Lane and 2 directors resign in light of stockholder vote

Hewlett-Packard Chairman Raymond Lane and two directors have announced their resignation from the board in response to shareholder opposition led by major pension funds at the technology company's annual meeting. "After reflecting on the stockholder vote last month, I've decided to step down as executive chairman to reduce any distraction from HP's ongoing turnaround," Lane said. Ralph Whitworth, an executive with an activist investment firm, is Lane's temporary replacement.
