Hurricane center to give warnings for storms that lose named status

The National Hurricane Center says it will continue issuing warnings even if a tropical system weakens and loses its named status. The move comes in response to feedback the agency received after Hurricane Sandy. "Our forecasters now have more flexibility to effectively communicate the threat posed by transitioning tropical systems," said Louis Uccellini, director of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction.
