Massive, high-efficiency rotors to boost nuclear plant output

Three new high-efficiency rotors are expected to raise the output of the Perry, Ohio, nuclear power plant by 30 megawatts. The first of three 175-ton rotors is being installed this week. The components were ordered by FirstEnergy in 2008 from a plant in Japan, one of only two existing forges that could handle the massive project.
