Medicare reform is up to Obama

Merging Medicare Parts A and B; implementing one set of copays, co-insurance and deductibles; and placing an overall cap on out-of-pocket costs would reduce the need for seniors to buy Medigap insurance plans and save up to $32.2 billion over 10 years, according to Congressional Budget Office estimates. The choices for reform are not limited to either vouchers or maintaining the status quo, and President Barack Obama should take the lead on meaningful Medicare reform.
