New privacy rules aren't child's play, app-makers say

New rules governing online privacy for children take effect in July, and could affect data-collection practices used by a broad range of mobile apps, industry experts say. Apps that use kid-friendly imagery -- such as "Angry Birds" -- might be forced to comply with the rules even though many of their users are adults. "It would be a good idea to be aware of the rule if you're designing an app that has cartoon characters in it," said Peder Magee, a Federal Trade Commission attorney.
