Proposed retail tobacco restrictions increase in U.S.

The National Association of Tobacco Outlets is overseeing and responding to 19 proposed tobacco ordinances in the U.S. as of March. This new wave of proposals resulted from the CDC's use of stimulus funds since 2011 to encourage the adoption of additional local tobacco restrictions. This year's proposed restrictions include a ban on electronic-cigarette sales in retail locations, the reduction of retail stores allowed to sell tobacco and the removal of tobacco product displays from public view.
