Rule on systemic-risk designation for nonbank firms gets Fed approval

The Federal Reserve has given its approval to a final rule on identifying nonbank institutions that pose a systemic risk to the financial system. The Financial Stability Oversight Council would identify such firms. The rule is similar to a previous proposal but excludes transactions involving physically settled derivatives from being considered as a financial activity, according to the Federal Reserve.
