Senate mulls Sugar Reform Act to level playing field

The U.S. Senate is considering a Sugar Reform Act that would reduce government intrusion and possibly lower the price of sugar for food companies and consumers. Confectioners and other sugar users applaud the measure, saying the current program only benefits sugar producers. "We applaud the Senators' leadership in supporting an effort to defund a wasteful government program that only benefits one special interest, while potentially costing taxpayers millions," said NCA president Larry Graham.
