What to ask as Washington moves to comprehensive tax reform

Comprehensive tax reform is on Washington's agenda and there are positive signs that it will continue to move forward. As it does, it is worthwhile, from a CPA's standpoint, to ask questions throughout the process, such as: "Are we moving to a tax system that better reflects the reality of people's lives?", "Should reform only address the income tax?" and "Will tax reform also address deficit reduction?" This post looks at seven questions, including these, about tax reforms and discusses their implications. The AICPA Tax Reform Task Force is providing tax writers in Washington specific recommendations to ease tax compliance and administration.
