Breast-feeding can save infant lives, money

A study in Pediatrics found that if 90% of U.S. women breast-fed their babies for the first six months of life it would prevent 900 infant deaths each year and save billions of dollars. Lead author Dr. Melissa Bartick of Harvard University said the magnitude of health benefits from breast-feeding is vastly underappreciated, calling it a public health issue.
