Advanced-biofuel developer seeks to expand into U.S., Brazil

France-based Deinove, which is working to develop "third-generation biofuels" from a bacterium called deinococcus, is planning to expand into the U.S. and Brazil, said CEO Jacques Biton. The biotechnology firm is negotiating with a major U.S. ethanol producer and with Brazil-based Tereos Internacional to make renewable fuels and other products from deinococcus, which was discovered in a can of corned beef in 1956, Biton said.
