A partner in the Merricourt Wind Project in North Dakota is disputing Xcel Energy's decision to end the venture based on concerns about endangered birds. EnXco, a unit of EDF Energies Nouvelles, said that it was surprised by Xcel's decision and that it would work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to minimize the wind farm's impact on the species. "We're certainly willing to work with [enXco], and they're certainly willing to work with us," said Jeffrey Towner of the Fish and Wildlife Service's North Dakota field office.
