Utility groups want in on cybersecurity rulemaking

As lawmakers hammer out a comprehensive national cybersecurity strategy, utility providers and industry organizations are worried about being left out of the process and having to play catch-up. The Utilities Telecom Council is also worried about weak information sharing. "We can't protect our systems from vulnerabilities and threats that we, as the asset owners, don't know about and then be criticized for not taking the proper protection measures," said UTC Vice President and General Counsel Prudence Parks.
