F5 says earnings decline isn't a result of competitive forces

F5 Networks blamed weaker telecom sales and lower government spending for a drop in earnings in its fiscal second quarter, saying its financial woes are not the result of competition from rivals in the networking sector. In a preview of Q2 results, the IP equipment vendor posted revenue of $350.2 million for the quarter, well below its earlier estimated range of $370 million to $380 million.
