A small spice shop in the heart of New York City is getting praise from some of the world's top chefs who call on its owner, Lior Lev Sercarz, for the perfect spice combinations to complement their dishes. Sercarz's La Boîte sells small tins of spice mixtures sourced from around the world that can completely transform the flavors of foods, such as turning a bitter, hoppy beer into a gingerbread milkshake, or making a slice of salmon resemble a bite of pork belly.
