SMS-offers campaign generates high response rate

An Ohio campaign inviting customers with loyalty cards at one of six stores to opt into a text messaging program achieved a 53% open rate. The Easton Town Center mall in Columbus offered a $5,000 shopping spree as an enticement, and 519 of the 20,500 customers targeted via e-mail signed up. More than a third of the consumers who opted in made a purchase.
