Syrian refugees stretch aid agency budgets

Humanitarian aid agencies are being swamped by ever-increasing numbers of Syrian refugees, and funding is largely depleted. "This is the type of crisis that humanitarian agencies at some point cannot handle any more,” said Filippo Grandi of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. "The needs are rising exponentially, and we are broke," UNICEF's Marixie Mercado said.
