What is the future of online professional development?

A recent panel discussion about the status and growth of online professional development for teachers included David Hargis, director of content development for ASCD; Valda Valbrun, director of professional development for ASCD; and MC Desrosiers, chief of program development for ASCD. Among other things discussed, Hargis said while online training opportunities often have focused on individual teachers, that has changed in recent months as larger school districts have adopted PD Online and PD In Focus -- online professional courses offered by ASCD -- "and that represents a real change toward wide-scale initiatives in the market."
