Survey: Few docs are aware of drug costs despite routine HIT use

A survey of 247 Hawaii doctors revealed that about eight out of 10 physicians routinely use health IT for patient care, with 54% using e-prescribing and 43% using electronic health record systems. However, the survey also found that few physicians knew about the costs of drugs they prescribe, which researchers said could hinder their ability to consider drug affordability for patients.
