Macquarie forecasts uptick in display ads in 2011

The market for display ads is set for double-digit growth this year thanks to strong performances by AOL and Yahoo!, Macquarie Capital reports. AOL was among the first quarter's top destinations for custom and large-format ad units, which accounted for about 25% of ads on its home page. Automakers bought up almost one-third of Yahoo!'s display ads, which increased 11.5% in the first quarter, the firm notes.
