How to get good references

Randy Street, co-author of "Who," a book about successful hiring methods, offers job seekers suggestions on how to line up good referrals. Street says it is a good idea to collect referrals when quitting a job and to help prepare referrals for the questions they will be asked. One exec offered this suggestion: "Seek references from someone besides the boss who fired you."
