AT&T would see major spectrum boost from T-Mobile merger

AT&T's planned acquisition of T-Mobile USA will enable it to provide next-generation long-term-evolution services to 95% of the U.S. population, according to industry estimates, making spectrum one of the biggest gains the company would see from the deal. In a recent interview, AT&T chief executive Randall Stephenson said that in some major markets, the added spectrum could boost capacity by as much as 30%, leading to better-quality service, and would give the company the ability to keep up with an expected eightfold to tenfold increase in wireless broadband volume over the next five years.
