Congressman asks feds to halt deportations of same-sex spouses

Rep. Rush Holt, D-N.J., has written to the Obama administration to request a moratorium on the deportations of gay and lesbian foreign nationals who are legally married to their U.S. same-sex spouses. Holt said the legal uncertainty over the Defense of Marriage Act, which forbids federal recognition of same-sex married couples, should be resolved before the U.S. government separates any more couples through deportation.
