API report confirms propane sales fell in 2011

Domestic sales of odorized propane fell to about 8.9 billion gallons in 2011, down 3% from 2010 and the fourth consecutive yearly decline, according to an American Petroleum Institute report. The report cited several factors for the declining sales, including milder winters, more competition in the energy market, increased energy conservation efforts and the rollout of more energy-efficient appliances.
