Calif. district serves up whole grain pizza to boost sales

A California school district is removing the peanut butter and jelly sandwich and sunflower butter sandwich options and some pasta items plus, instead, offering whole grain cheese pizza daily to boost cafeteria sales. School nutrition professionals announced the change following a decline in sales of 600 meals per school day. The change, they say, allows the district to comply with federal meal standards while serving students food they want.
