FEMA maps may add parts of some Iowa counties into flood zones

The Federal Emergency Management Agency may include areas across multiple Iowa counties in floodplains on its revised maps if local officials fail to get re-accreditation for levees along the Missouri River and some tributaries. The cost of getting the levees re-accredited is high, officials say, adding that an upgrade is not needed because the levees withstood catastrophic flooding two years ago.
