UP offers Operation Lifesaver tips for rail safety in Mo.

Union Pacific recently hosted a rail-safety train ride through St. Louis and Eureka, Mo., to demonstrate how a 416,000-pound locomotive "doesn't stop quickly, certainly not quickly enough to avoid a person who is just feet in front of it," said UP engineer Tony Kennon. The railroad also provided seven tips from Operation Lifesaver for how to stay safe near railroad tracks.
