U.K.'s ethanol use hit record high in 2012

Ethanol accounted for 55% of all biofuels used in the U.K. in 2012, the first time in six years that more ethanol was consumed compared to biodiesel, according to data from the U.K. Department of Energy and Climate Change. Although overall liquid biofuel consumption in the country's transportation sector dipped in 2012 compared with 2011, ethanol use rose to 204.5 million gallons, up 19% from 2011, the data showed.
