U.S. hiring falls short of economists' forecast

Experts had expected employers to add 190,000 jobs last month, but the total turned out to be 88,000, the Labor Department says. The unemployment rate declined from 7.7% to 7.6%, mostly because about 496,000 Americans gave up looking for work.
