Libertarians should stop hankering after an idealized "golden age" of American freedom, argues David Boaz, executive vice president of the Cato Institute. While it's true that previous generations didn't have to wrestle with high taxes and big government, Boaz writes, many -- especially women and blacks -- suffered far greater affronts to their freedom than the average modern American does now.
