LaHood: Competition for funds means HSR in "demand"

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said "demand for high-speed rail is enormous" as 24 states, Washington, D.C., and Amtrak are seeking more than $10 billion in federal rail funding. LaHood underscored the jobs created by high-speed rail development and the promise the projects offer to end foreign-oil dependency and "fight paralyzing congestion."
