"Bertha" borer arrives in Seattle

"Bertha," the world's biggest tunnel-boring machine, is on a ship docked at the Port of Seattle, and unloading the 41 separate parts of the machine may take two weeks or more. The $80 million borer will be used for Seattle's $2 billion State Route 99 tunnel project. The borer's launch pit will be available by the end of April.
