Children influence breakfast and snacks, not dinner

Research from NPD Group finds 31% of children have a say in what they eat for breakfast and 46% influence in-home snack choices, but just 3% have any control over dinner. "I do think more family members are party to the discussion of what’s going to be eaten at home for any meal or snack, but dinner is an occasion in which the family usually sits down together. It’s less individualized than breakfast," said NPD Group analyst Harry Balzer.
