Guideline adherence may improve glycemic control in diabetes, kidney disease

Following medication guidelines may help boost glycemic control in patients with diabetes and advanced-stage chronic kidney disease, according to a study presented at the National Kidney Foundation 2013 Spring Clinical Meetings. Researchers examined 5,565 patients and found 64.3% of those who were guideline-compliant attained an A1C of less than 7%, compared with 52.1% of their noncompliant counterparts.
