Housing leader says N.J. needs more rental housing

New Jersey needs to focus on expanding affordable rental housing, which was already in short supply in the high-dollar state before Hurricane Sandy destroyed many units, says Diane Sterner, outgoing director of the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey. The state's plan for rebuilding should do more to help renters and provide counseling for homeowners considering rebuilding, she says.
