Mozilla plans bottom-up rewrite of Firefox

Mozilla is planning to completely rewrite the rendering engine at the core of its Firefox browser and is developing a new engine, dubbed Servo, capable of taking advantage of next-generation, multicore hardware. The new technologies being used could eliminate several common causes of browser crashes as well as curb some security issues, writes Scott Gilbertson.
